Mononucleosis Test

The Willi Fox Mononucleosis Test detects so-called heterophile antibodies of the IgM type against the Epstein-Barr virus.

The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a virus from the herpes virus family. More than 90 percent of people become infected with Epstein-Barr virus, or EBV for short, during their lifetime. As a rule, the infection occurs in young childhood, then usually runs without symptoms and remains in most people without consequences. Especially in adolescents and young adults, however, the fresh infection can manifest itself as so-called glandular fever (infectious mononucleosis, IM for short).
